20 Second Timer
Twenty seconds is the hygiene standard for handwashing and the work interval in the Tabata protocol — two very different routines that landed on the same number.

Keep this tab open — the countdown stays accurate in the background, and the alarm sounds when it reaches zero.
What a 20 second timer is good for
Short countdowns are the ones people reach for most often mid-task — a rest between sets, a hold position, a rinse, a speed round — where glancing at a clock breaks concentration. This timer runs in the page, counts down out loud with an alarm at zero, and needs no app or sign-up.
- Washing hands for the full recommended duration
- The work interval in a Tabata round
- Holding a plank in a beginner progression
- Rest between sets of a light circuit
